I was confused by all the aim chatter yesterday, esp when Eric said AIM is down, but
it wasn't to me. Found this on VT:
"Everyone has to remember that only AOL's official client is allowed to use the oscar
server (which has file sharing capabilities, reading away messages, buddy pictures,
etc). Every third-party client must either use the toc server or the java server.
Neither of these two servers supports anything except for instant messaging. If you
want extra features, you'll have to use AOL's official client. I, for one, don't need
the extra features. I just want an instant messenger that reduces desktop clutter and
Adium does that amazingly"
So for those of us not up on the protocols, now we be a little more edumacated...
