I checked in a feature that makes the background of the buddy list
invisible a few days ago and I haven't heard any feedback. The feature
is enabled by choosing "Toggle Buddy Window Transparency" from the
"Window" menu.

I've been told that "Transparent" is a bit of a misnomer for this
feature...the window isn't made transparent (like the flashing chat
windows), but the background is made completely invisible. So the buddy
list contents is still completely opaque, but the background is
transparent. Thus, this feature does not let you change the transparency
of the entire buddy window -- it just lets you hide the background.
Maybe "Hide Buddy Window Background" would be a better name for the menu
item? Suggestions?

A couple notes:

* You can't click something that's invisible. If you click the invisible
part of the window, the click just passes right through. So I'd
recommend turning on service icons and using those to click on buddies.
* When the background's invisible, there's no title bar or window
border. So you can't move or resize the window. You need to switch back
to opaque mode to do that.
* You can't change the font color in the buddy list yet. I know a lot of
people have dark backgrounds (I do) and the default black text doesn't
show up very well on it. I'm working on new preferences to let you
customize the color of the text in the buddy list.

This also shows another new buddy list change -- the vertical scroll bar
will automatically hide itself when it's not needed.
