Have you tried just connecting to the ICQ server that fire uses through the
command line? Use Terminal and do this:
% telnet login.icq.com 5190
Trying 205.188.179.233...
Connected to login.icq.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
*??^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
Then use control-] and type quit to close the connection. If you can't even
get a connection this way, there's no way Fire will work.
ICQ in Fire has worked fine for me since the new libicq2000 code was
integrated a version or two back.
