First possibility is that you are behind some sort of firewall or proxy
server and the official clients work with that but Fire doesn't.
Are you using the exact same username and password in both Fire and the
official clients? Note also that @yahoo.com is not necessary for Yahoo. You
should simply put the username. For AIM just put the screen name.
Also, please note that Fire uses TOC for AIM connections, but the official
client uses Oscar. Have you tried Adium (for AIM) or Proteus? Do either of
these work for you?
