Sounds like it's trying to load a non-English version of Fire. I'm going
to go out on a limb and guess you're computer is set to German (else
another Germanic language), which hasn't been updated in ages, but is
still in CVS and gets built into the TOT builds, otherwise either German,
French, or Portuguese is set higher than English on your list of prefered
languages in System Prefs.

Yeah, in Finder, get info on Fire, and on the popup button choose
"Languages" and then disable all languages except for English. Only
English and Spanish are anywhere near up-to-date, of which I need to
update the Spanish one tonight so Fire can run without crashing as often
while using it.
