It apparently can be accessed via the menu bar as well so you dont need that
huge buddy window there all the time. I think what you saw was the
interface within Address Book.app. The bubbles are annoying though I agree
:).. I hope you can disable those.

*cough*
As I'm sure everyone has now heard of, Apple will be releasing an instant
messenger client called "iChat" with Jaguar. It only connects to the AOL
network, but apparently it is the first time AOL is playing nice with it's
OSCAR protocol.
*gets on soap box*
However, I feel that honestly Apple messed up the interface for once; the
interface really looks bad. It has the brushed metal iTunes look and
while I understand the intent of trying to visually show two people
talking using speech-bubbles, it just looks "bloaty", like everything
takes up way more space than it should. Hopefully there will at least be
an option to disable this for the sake of people who won't be using Fire
or some other application with cleaner interfaces. Of course, I still
think that Apple should give us the option of using an Aqua-style
(non-iTunes-ish) for any of the brushed metal apps...but that might just
be me...
*gets down*
Hopefully this won't cause too much ballyhoo on here.
