This is not possible in .30b. However, in TOT (and .31a when it's 
released), you will be able to set the message to be an empty string. If 
you have an empty string message then it will not send any autoresponses.

Not currently possible. One suggestion was the ICQ style flashing icons 
but I don't believe that is currently a planned feature. Of course, if 
someone wants to grab the source and implement that I'm sure we could 
integrate it as an option.

Yes. Turn off the preference for Close chat windows after sending 
messages in Preferences->Chat Windows.

I believe you can accomplish this by checking one of the Away messages 
as Idle. This is the leftmost column in the Away Messages window. If 
this doesn't work, it really should.
