Fire isn't becoming unresponsive to me, but once it auto-idles, it doesn't
seem to want to un-idle itself!
I've tried manually switching states (to "Away" and then back to
"Available") and it seems to add whatever other state (the away yellow
sticky for example) onto the idle icon without changing anything. When I
set myself back to "available" it still shows the Idle icon.
