G'day Folks
I've been using Fire for about a month now & love the idea of 1 client for
IRC & all IM protocols but have found a couple of problems that I haven't
seen mentioned on the list. I don't know whether either of these is
something I'm doing wrong, as a newbie Fire user & also one who's not very
experienced with IRC, or problems with Fire itself.
First is that I haven't yet succeeded in connecting to an IRC server. The
only one I've tried is <irc.austnet.org> & other than simply failing to
connect sometimes my connect attempts result in Fire unexpectedly quitting.
I can send Console crash logs to anyone to whom they may be of use.
The other is that other ICQ users who ask authorisation to add me to their
lists don't seem to get my authorisation. At the moment my workaround is to
switch to ICQ's own client, ask them to request authorisation again, give
the authorisation & then switch back to Fire ... what a pain! I suppose I
could turn off the authorisation required setting but that strikes me as
opening one more window of opportunity for the spam scum.
Cheers, Pedro :-)
