As if my previous post wasn't enough information...
Just tried connecting to AOL IM via Proteus, and that also seems to fail.
I tried running Ethereal to see what sort of packets were going back and
forth, but I can't make sense out of them. (Very little of it is in
something approaching plain English -- although I did catch my login
name.) I have become curious as to whether my work machine would have the
same problems if I return to it now.
So, Adium works; AIM Express works; Proteus and Fire both reconnect
endlessly and never work.
All other protocols work fine.
I have messed with the firewall settings (I have a cheapie router/
firewall) and set all ports to forward to my Mac, and that didn't help either.
It also seems I'm not the only user with this problem. Is there anything
we can do to help track down the source of this error?
