I'm also in this pickle!  The only way my firewall at work will allow "chat"
packets through is if I use HTTP or HTTPS and specify the proxy server's
address *and* port number.

Currently, the official AIM app is the only product that does this (and so,
I guess my IT people did their job correctly, as my IM usage is much reduced
while I'm at work *grin*)
