This is a case where we might want to have an option (or maybe just keep
track of whether the user has ever edited the buddy alias). Right now, I
just check whether an alias is set or not when getting the friendlyname
from the server.
This also has implications for existing buddy lists. I personally like
to override the alias/friendlyname for clustering purposes, so I
wouldn't want my buddies to be overridden, but we could probably set
things up so that new buddies would respect the server side friendlyname
until you edit the buddy alias the first time.
Does that sound reasonable?
