Ghosting Buddies and a Request

I have noticed that if a buddy who is on your buddy list is ghosting in AIM, you cannot reply to the IMs they send you. Any way we can deal with it? For now, I just sign on AOL and tell them to quit ghosting, but it's still a pain. ^_^

Also, is there any way we can have Fire tell us when buddies we are chatting with who aren't on our list have signed off? Otherwise, I can keep IMing someone and they aren't getting the messages and I dont know it, because they have signed off. Perhaps even a temporary buddy group that contains all people with open IM windows who aren't on your list? Thanks again.
