If someone on Yahoo!Messenger is typing you a message, the "official
client" puts, in the status bar at the bottom:
[smiley] username is typing to you
or some verbiage to that effect.
Quite useful when someone is typing a long response, and you don't
know if they're ignoring you or just typing a lot.
