{I am asking here since I see this as an advanced Firebird topic, suspect is
something which was supported long time ago}
Scenario,
I have a collection of Firebird databases which are one several physical hosts
(running various 2.5.x versions). But the host and database path can change
regularly, which causes problem for remote clients which then need to update
their local configs (think MS Excel ODBC connection strings).
What I am looking to do is to designate a single server as the connection point
for the remote clients, and use the DBAlias.conf file (on that server) to store
the database hostname, IPPort and filename/path details for the available
databases. SO, all remote clients would only connect using db aliases.
Is this supported with v2.5?
If so, what would the DBAlias entry look like? (AliasName =
{Hostname}\{Port}:{Path and Filename})???
