As discussed, the problem is in the configuration of the system in question so that's where a proper solution. I have a patch allowing "inet4" and "inet6" protocols in URL-like connection strings to restrict host lookup to IPv4 or IPv6 addresses as a workaround on systems where the issue cannot be fixed properly. The patch is at https://github.com/mkubecek/firebird/commits/mk/4.0/inet46 I would like to run few more tests and then I'll create a pull request (tomorrow, hopefully). I believe it can be also cherry picked into B3_0_Release branch if there are no objections.
