Taking into an account that this is suggested for FB4 (not 2.5) I do
not see problems with security.
Imagine server configured with DatabaseAccess = none and/or database
configured with SecurityDatabase = other.db. What will happen after a
new database has been created by PSQL?
In first case database will not be created, why do you think that it's
so easy to override DatabaseAccess = none?
In second case interaction between current database and newly created
one will be controlled by created mappings.
That's sooner of all shold be called not purpose but missing features
- tablespaces and partitioning.
They won't give a performance boost as long as queries cannot be
parallelized.
For single request no boost, but when we talk about server under high
load serving multiple requests performance boost will be present.
When performance gets critical and need in at least manual
partitioning becomes very big people want to be able to perform all
needed operations from fixed set of SP, not delegate part of that
tasks to the (for example) client.
If Firebird has performance issues, it is better to focus on its
fixes instead of workarounds.
"Very big people" should consider horizontal scaling in addition to
pushing into vertical.
In theory I can agree, on practice...
Well, if nobody wants to see such an improvement I certainly will not
commit it.
