thanks, I registered and downloaded and installed VS SDK.
but Firebird still does not appear among other (MSSQl, Oracle) drivers in VS IDE in database explorer.
any ideas?

Installed Visual Studio 2005, then VS SDK
and then I followed the steps from here

You need the .NET Passport, then you're able to login and download. No more stuff is required. Another location isn't decency to Microsoft (maybe they're counting downloads, etc.).
