You can't inactivate a FK constraint: SQL> ALTER INDEX FK_FOO INACTIVE; unsuccessful metadata update -MODIFY RDB$INDICES failed -action cancelled by trigger (2) to preserve data integrity -Cannot deactivate index used by an integrity constraint Scott
