In the context of your complaint that NEXT VALUE FOR seemed to return a wrong value, Dmitry suggested you query the column RDB$GENERATOR_INCREMENT in RDB$GENERATORS, to check whether the problem might be caused by 0 or null in that field. If you didn't do that, and you think you still have a problem, then look at it. HB
