If you attach an example to issue 946 that has tab characters, I can use Chromebug to look to see if the rendered source has tabs or whatever in the Script view. If the rendered source has tabs, then you can look into Web browser documentation to find out how to control the size of the tabs. If not, then firebug must control it after all and I can look into where that might be.
