yeah, this is something that comes up pretty often. One thing you can do (which I do all the time) is use the Edit in External Editor function on the Firebug menu (the bug on the toolbar). First time you use it, it'll prompt you to set your preferred editor, then you can open HTML, CSS or Script files in the text editor of your choice. You can save as to export a copy out of your cache.
There's still no easy way to save this to a server, but if you're working from a local copy it's fairly easy to install your changes when you're trying out some changes. thanks for the suggestion!
