I just took a look at this and bug and can reproduce it
(code.google.com seems to be down at the moment).

The bug is that all properties in the DOM tab are getters (including
alt text etc.)

To reproduce:
1. Open Firebug on this page
2. Inspect the Firebug Icon at the top left of the page
3. In the HTML Tree right-click on the image and choose 'Inspect in
DOM Tab'
4. Alt text is listed as 'get alt' and cannot be changed (all
properties appear as getters)

This should be an easy fix so I will take a look.
