This sounds like a good timing, since the goal for Firebug 1.5 is focus on support for better extensibility (better support for Firebug extensions). This work includes improving core APIs and also unit test APIs). The better feedback we have from Firebug extensions developers the better APIs we can design to fulfill the needs. Also note that Firebug 1.5 will require Firefox 3.5 and higher (supporting all new features).
