$0 refers to the CURRENT selected element in the HTML panel $1 refers to the LAST selected element in the HTML panel As far as I'm concerned this feature IS working in all versions! :) Just one side note. This project, like any other open-source project, is maintained by few but great passionated people. Millions of people use Firebug daily, but only a few group of developers are working on the project. I know it wasn't your intent to complain, but your statement in the subject: "element selection broken... again" isn't the best way to communicate to developers. In my opinion, people should try to motivate the developers, so they can hopefully fix the issue (if there's an issue to be fixed).
