Do you also have the Web Developer add on installed? I had that with
FF 3.0 and experienced difficulties with Firebug. When I installed FF
3.5, I omitted the Web Developer and only installed Firebug. My
issues with 'Firebug is broken' all went away, although I initially
attributed this to making a new profile. I now have only the Firebug
add-on.

I'm wondering about some interactions between the two popular debug/
developer tools, as I don't recall anyone discussing or considering
this as relevant. Yet I suspect MANY have both installed.
