At some point I would like to allow users to select what should and what should not be displayed in the quick info box. I played with the idea of moving it into a panel because its style does not match the rest of Firebug but most devs prefer it to work the way that it does.
There is no animation though, we simply redraw the contents of the box and it fits to the size of the text. Maybe you are not using hardware acceleration? Which OS are you using?
