If you *can't* download Firebug with either browser, there's a config
issue on your end.  You *should* be able to do it.  I have no download
problems here, whether the site uses JavaScript or not, and I have IE
8, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, and several other things in
the mix.

If you are running something like NoScript, whitelist the getfirebug site.
