I have forgot a relevnt detail, which might trigger the behaviour: I am replacing the text node with a span node before hightlight them in the page, then I am replacing back the original text node. The problem seems to be that the replacement is somehow asyncronous, so no matter where I put the setClass statement, the node in the panel does not have the right class.
