I have the same exact problem, although disabling Roboform did nothing to alleviate it. I pretty much dont use FF for surfing any more, just development because of it. Along with the symptoms you describe I also get a second instance of FF running when it crashes and restarts. (I dont think firebug causes the crash's, it crashes frequently since I upgraded to the latest FF. Turning off firebug alleviates all problems with popup windows. I have even tried it with all my plugins except firebug disabled. Running 1.8.0b6
