You could try to check following option: Script panel -> mini tab menu
-> Show chrome sources
(but I am not sure if this will help you)

In general, Firebug is for debugging web pages.
What you need is Chromebug: it's like a Firebug but for Firefox
extensions.

The last working combo is Chromebug 1.7.2 + Firebug 1.7.3

Pedro Simonetti is trying to fix Chromebug 1.8 for Firebug 1.8 at the
present.
