If you right-click the Firebug Start Button (Firebug icon), is the option "On for All Web Pages" checked? If so, uncheck it. If not, please report the issue at http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/entry, but be sure you have read http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/I_found_a_Firebug_Bug! first.
