There was already an extension called 
Chromebug<http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Chromebug>for earlier versions 
of Firefox that did exactly that. Unfortunately it 
wasn't updated lately since we don't have the resources to do that, so it 
just works with Firefox versions up to 5.0.

Anyway, you also have limited access to Firefox parts via Firebug. Though 
there's no menu to select the part you want to inspect. So you will have to 
know the chrome URL. E.g. you can try it with 
chrome://browser/content/browser.xul.
