Thanks for the tip about disabling the 'script' panel of Firebug. Before 
that change, opening Firebug or switching back to a tab with Firebug open 
was triggering a *** 60+ second *** Firefox hang with CPU nearly maxed. 
(FF/25, MacOS, 2.5Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo) After disabling the script panel, 
opening Firebug or returning to a tab with it open is nearly instant.  

I do have dozens of tabs open, but most haven't been visited since a 
process restart (and thus aren't loaded with any DOM/JS), and as the 
Firebug enablement seems to be per-tab not sure why anything could possibly 
justify such a many-tens-of-seconds busy-spin just to load or 
redisplay-already-opened Firebug.
