The bookmarklet you refer to is already for Firebug Lite 1.4. You can check 
that by executing Firebug.version within the command line.
For CSS live editing is working fine for me. Though it looks like live 
editing of HTML is broken. You may file a bug for this 
<https://github.com/firebug/firebug-lite/issues/new>, though note that 
Firebug Lite is currently unmaintained.
