There are several Microsoft Technet articles about the ports that are
needed. I don't remember them all so you might want to check the advanced
search page for Microsoft support. But if the Exchanger server has the
protocols installed couldn't the user use a SMTP or POP client? or even OWA?
This way you might not have to open up any more ports.

Subject: Access an exchange server through out firewall

Hi All,

We have a user here who needs to access an exchange server.
The problem is that the exchange server is outside out firewall.

I have been told that all I need to do is open the following ports

135 RPC Endpoint Mapper
20050 MS Exchange Directory Services
20051 MS Exchange Information Store

Its TCP inbound and outbound

Is this going to open and holes?
Which interface (inside vs outside) do I have start the proxy on?

Regards Wayne
