Mark,
For me, a key question I ask of all network related
software that I use is:
Is it scalable?
ie will I have to scope, search out, acquire, install,
and learn to drive new software as a network/system
grows, or passes to different SysAdmins hands.
This is a question I ask myself in both business and
'hobby' installs, as I think the principle applies
equally.
Let me give an example: Of late, I have had the call
to provision/maintain a few home/SOHO networks with
proxy software. I have chosen ProxyPlus for this. My
reasoning went something like this ... It works
satisfactorily (ie functional + effective = useful) out
of the box, a good start. It can be 'supped up' by
more advanced users, or for more demanding network,
simply, without plugins etc. eg one can setup Notes
replication through a standard 'tweak' in the app.

scalability is a Good Thing (in this case, IMHO). I
have been using/installing Zone Alarm for about six
months now, and have yet to have one single problem
with it(!) As a result, I have no hesitation and do
recommend that people try this sw, if I think it fits
their need. Well done. ;) Hope this helps ...
