Hello all,
This is my first post here so forgive me if it has been covered. I am
setting up a firewall and I have a couple different ways to do it. One is to
set up a DMZ behind my router ( use packet filtering from the router ) and
have a Linux firewall setup to protect the administrative network on the
192.168.1.0/24 network. I would have a proxy server running to proxy
connections bound for the internet.
That configuration I can do. What I'm not sure about is how to do the
next one.

Have the connection from the internet go from my router to a crossover cable
to my firewall...and put www and smtp/pop3 behind the firewall. But still
give it legit IP's instead of 192.168.1.0/24 and use packet filtering to
stop most traffic...I would have a 3rd NIC card for my 192.168.1.0 network
as well...is this a possible configuration? If not how can I keep my
www/smtp behind the firewall with legit IP's?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Gary
