I hope this hasn't been recently answered on the list....

I wan't to use an application through a firewall where the (intranet)
client downloads an applet from an (internet) server and then the applet

opens a TCP (and possibly UDP) connection with the server (using a
predefinded server port). This is similar in principle to java based
internet chat.

Obviously if you allow direct connections through a packet filtering
firewall then this works OK. But what are the solutions if you only
allow indirect connections from the intranet to the internet either via
proxys/relays on the DMZ or a proxy based firewall (remembering the
applet can only communicate back to the server from where it was
downloaded)?
