The firewall shipped with FreeBSD, for example the ipfw and ipfilter
are both ip packet filters. However, TIS fwtk OTOH, is a proxy based
solution. The comparison between the two very different types are
already well discussed, and I believe you search among the old
mailing list archives for more information.
