Is smtp listening on port 25 and have you opened a port 25 on the firewall? Are you allowing smtp traffic to pass straight from the Internet or are you using a mail gateway?

Subject: IBM e-firewall
Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience with IBM e-firewall on Windows NT.
I am trying to install the e-firewall, i have some questions regarding NAT
Everything works, except the Exchange server not able to recieve mail but
able to
send mail.
The configuration is
Internal network ----> Firewall------>Router---->ISP
The firewall is also running Sendmail for NT. The exchange server on the
internal network
is doing NAT. So all the SMTP traffic points to Firewall server (Sendmail) .
On the
return path the sendmail redirects to the exchange server. We are able to
send
e-mails out but the incoming message do nor redirect, the error says
"timedout".
My question is do we have any file For ARP to be defined (Like in checkpoint
we have
the local.arp)and also we have give a route command to the Server.
All help will be appreciated.
thanks in Advance
ksn
