In trying to know as to what are the ports that are needed for PDC authentication through a firewall, we ran a sniffer and found that only Netbios session service port are needed. (This port is used by the SMB protocol. also we see a lot of MSRPC stuff going on as well.) But as known that one needs all the ports used by the Service Group NetBIOS over IP for the communication between PDC and member server. So through this list, someone could emphatically say that we do not need the rest of the services. but i did not see any of the other ports besides TCP 139 and UDP 138.
