I'm guessing that your Solaris systems are SPARC or UltraSPARC systems,
in which case this is a hardware issue and Solaris on Intel would have
crashed too. Even my old SPARC at home seems to fare better when my power
company takes a hit than the newest Intel architecture machine. I would
assume that industrial-strength hardware exists in the high-end Intel
space as well. All my critical systems are on UPS with generator
fail-over, I only have to deal with power trouble at home.
