Hello all, I was wondering how would you go about testing/verifying/validating a firewall setup that you've done ? Being no security expert and such, I can think of testing all available and unavailable services, portscanning the machine, imposing a heavy load and actions like these. But is there some better procedure (maybe a formal one), any tools, anything more robust and well defined than the above ? Sorry if it is all obvious to you guys.
