hi,
  in a few words as possible use LRP 'linux-router' to manage the 
connection. This will control the ports that are allowed in either 
direction which when coupled with NAT is very strong. Then on
a second layered LRP lock it down to deny all port connections period coming 
in. This leaves them very little even if someone should get past
the first IMHO;-))
