I would have no problem recommending a Ultra-2 workstation, with two 300Mhz
UltraSPARCs, perhaps 512M memory. If you are on a budget, they can be had
refurbished for about $15,000 I think, or close to it. Even cheaper would be
a Ultra 170E, which is the single CPU UltraSPARC with the 100BT on the
motherboard, rather than an expansion card (early models had the Lance 10BT
interface - make sure you ask for the 170E with 100BT). Those would go for
about $5000 refurbished. Check out http://www.solarsys.com/ for some good
deals on refurbished Sun equipment.
I'm really partial to the Sbus Ultra workstations with SCSI drives, rather
than the PCI workstations with IDE drives. The new PCI workstations just seem
like overdone PCs that can't run Windows (but they run WABI! :).
