I have just installed Gauntlet 5.0 on Solaris 2.6. When I rebuild the firewall config files, or type newaliases I get these errors: WARNING: local host name (hades) is not qualified; fix $j in config file dbm map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/mail/aliases WARNING: cannot open alias database /etc/mail/aliases Cannot create database for alias file /etc/mail/aliases: No such device My Gauntlet sendmail.cf has: ## predefined # $w fully-qualified hostname or not... depends on sendmail # $j FQDN ## I've tried using $w machinename.my.domain.com D$w machinename.my.domain.com and also tried: $j my.domain.com D$j my.domian.com I still get the WARNING: local host name (hades) is not qualified; fix $j in config file my permissions are drwxr-xr-x 2 bin mail 512 Aug 20 10:21 mail drwxr-xr-x 2 bin mail 512 Aug 20 10:21 ./ drwxr-xr-x 28 root sys 3584 Aug 20 10:16 ../ -r--r--r-- 1 root root 94 Apr 14 08:32 .MAP -r--r--r-- 1 root other 94 Aug 17 08:12 .MAP.PRE5.0 -rw-r--r-- 1 bin bin 153 Aug 12 13:14 Mail.rc -rw-r--r-- 1 uucp root 1039 Aug 20 10:23 aliases -rwxr-xr-x 1 uucp other 1201 Aug 17 08:12 aliases.PRE5.0* -rwxr-xr-x 1 uucp root 0 Aug 12 13:27 aliases.dir* -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 1039 Aug 20 10:21 aliases.new -rw-r--r-- 1 uucp root 1039 Aug 20 10:02 aliases.old -rwxr-xr-x 1 uucp root 1024 Aug 12 13:27 aliases.pag* -rw-r--r-- 1 bin bin 1829 Aug 12 13:01 mailx.rc -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 11973 Aug 12 13:01 main.cf -rwxr-xr-x 1 root other 26865 Aug 12 14:06 main.cf.new* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15319 Aug 20 10:30 sendmail.cf -r--r--r-- 1 root other 27176 Aug 17 08:12 sendmail.cf.PRE5.0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15344 Aug 20 10:12 sendmail.cf.old -rw-r--r-- 1 root bin 4911 Aug 10 03:37 sendmail.hf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32 Aug 13 11:50 sendmail.pid -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 9197 Aug 12 13:01 subsidiary.cf -rwxr-xr-x 1 root other 27176 Aug 12 14:06 subsidiary.cf.new* I can't get any permissions to allow newaliases to work. If I change things to 666 or 777 when it complains about world readable files/directories ( as it should), but still fails to rebuild the aliases files. Any assistance would be appreciated. My Gauntlet training is scheduled for next month, which doesn't really help me now. Gauntlet is nothing like my CheckPoint or Raptor firewalls, so I can't really compare my other setups. Buy the software, install the software, then if we have time, send you to training. That's the way to run a business :-) Later Les ================================================================== Computer Sciences Corporation [EMAIL PROTECTED] Voice: 817.777.7346 http://hydra.lmtas.lmco.com "As a matter of fact, I do have a plan - and it's so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel." ================================================================== - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
