I have just installed Gauntlet 5.0 on Solaris 2.6.

When I rebuild the firewall config files, or type newaliases
I get these errors:

WARNING: local host name (hades) is not qualified; fix $j in config file
dbm map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/mail/aliases
WARNING: cannot open alias database /etc/mail/aliases
Cannot create database for alias file /etc/mail/aliases: No such device

My Gauntlet sendmail.cf has:

## predefined
# $w fully-qualified hostname or not... depends on sendmail
# $j FQDN
##

I've tried using
$w machinename.my.domain.com
D$w machinename.my.domain.com

and also tried:

$j my.domain.com
D$j my.domian.com

I still get the

WARNING: local host name (hades) is not qualified; fix $j in config file

my permissions are

I can't get any permissions to allow newaliases to work. If I change things
to 666 or 777 when it complains about world readable files/directories ( as it
should), but still fails to rebuild the aliases files.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

My Gauntlet training is scheduled for next month, which doesn't really help me
now. Gauntlet is nothing like my CheckPoint or Raptor firewalls, so I can't
really compare my other setups.

Buy the software, install the software, then if we have time, send you to
training. That's the way to run a business :-)
