Hello everyone,
I have a question about the advantages and disadvantages of
using a linux box as a router\firewall vs. that of a cisco
router & some sort of hardware firewall device. The reason we
would like to use a linux box as a router is for redundant
internet basically, we have a DS3 which comes to a DS3 router
then to a managed hub which we have a port connected to one of
our hubs, we were thinking about putting 3 network cards in a
linux box, 1 to go straight to that managed hub, 1 to a separate
T1 for redundancy, and 1 to our own hubs for the building's
internet access. Do you think that is a good idea? If so what
type of hardware would you suggest we put in the linux box. If
not I'm open to other ideas!
Thanks in advance,
Network Administrator
