I have a question about the way PPTP is treated by
the
checkpoint firewall FW-1.
first, we need two rules for PPTP, ie one between
the
server and the other from client to the server.
correct ?
question is that why did we need the two rules.
The state information should automatically take
care
of the connection back..... or is there no state
information
for PPTP, because it is GRE, IP protocol no 47.

and second if this is the case, how come static NAT
is
implemented for PPTP. The docs claim that the NAT,
static NAT is fine with PPTP... correct ?

please email me your responses asap... I would
compile
all the info and post it back to the list so that
others can
also benefit and having to research over again....

also i would be intersted to know other's views
about how do other firewalls deal with this...
specially
other IP protocols like IP in IP etc. how do other
firewalls take care of the state information and
deal
with NAT'ing issues.....

thanks
tally
