The CISSP is not all that difficult to get if you meet the requirements regarding
experience, etc. This is not to say that it is an easy certification, rather it
is a certification that is intended to be attainable by EXPERIENCED professionals,
not just any jerk walking in off the street. What you learn doing the job (in all
respects and represented by the various areas of competence in the testing
material) is generally a good start to passing the test.
When I got the certification, I relied on what I learned doing the job and
reviewing the list of recommended reading.
